Calf fat-dissolving injections,

The right approach depends on whether fat, muscle or swelling makes the calf look larger. A soft layer you can pinch is usually subcutaneous fat, the part that hardens and rises when you stand on tiptoe is muscle, and calves that swell every evening and settle by morning point to swelling. Touch alone is not conclusive, so we confirm at an examination.

Of these, a calf fat-dissolving injection targets only fat. It does not reduce muscle or treat swelling, so if muscle or swelling is the main cause, we do not recommend injections and guide you to care that fits the cause.

Fat tends to linger just above and below the inner knee, so refining this area alone, rather than the whole calf, can change how the leg line looks. We listen to which area bothers you and set the range.

Calves that swell in the evening can still look large after fat is reduced. Recurrent leg swelling is assessed for its cause first and treated according to the diagnosis, and where appropriate we may also discuss VACUMED negative pressure therapy for lower-leg circulation.

Change usually appears over several weeks rather than right after treatment, and sessions are spaced apart. The number is decided at your consultation based on fat thickness and progress, and the timing and degree vary from person to person.

Swelling and bruising at the injection site usually settle within a few days to one or two weeks but can last longer. Avoid scheduling treatment right before a day of long standing or a lot of walking.
