Abdominal fat-dissolving injections,

The thick layer you can pinch on your belly is subcutaneous fat. Abdominal fat-dissolving injections go into this layer, so they do not reach the visceral fat stored between the organs.

The abdomen covers a wide area, so we assess the lower abdomen, upper abdomen, flanks and love handles at the lower back separately. We start with the area that bothers you most and sometimes split areas across sessions to account for the total dose.

When loose skin or separated abdominal muscles are also present, as with a belly stretched after childbirth, injections alone may not refine the contour, so we check this at the examination first.

Changes in waist circumference usually appear over several weeks rather than right after treatment, and the timing and degree vary with the medication, the area and the person. The abdominal fat layer is often thick, so many people have several sessions.

The number of sessions and the interval are decided at your consultation based on fat thickness, the change you want and earlier progress. This is not a treatment for major weight loss; it refines the circumference and contour of the belly.

The injected area may swell or bruise and feel stiff when you bend. This usually settles within a few days to one or two weeks, though a palpable lump can last longer.

Clothing that is tight at the waist may be uncomfortable, so we suggest loose clothing on the day. Contact the clinic right away if pain gets worse or redness spreads.
